After work, drove to Wetaskiwin for the wedding. I arrived, and John and Mary Ann were waiting for some more folks to arrive, as they were staying here too for the weekend. They were Joe and Verna, their kids Kevin and Byron, and Byron's girlfriend Ashley.

Today was the wedding of Theresa Krahn and Daniel Nelson. I was slated to shoot pictures earlier in the year, but they had a gal do it instead of me. This is a good thing, because I was totally un-creative here today. In fact, although I had my camera handy, I didn't shoot one picture - all weekend. Sometimes it's like that.

Went to church at New Sweeden - Don lead Sunday School, and Lyle for the main service. Emma was returning to and Kami was leaving to Australia this week.

Lunch at Friesens - then we went to Krahn's in the evening for left-over cake and stuff. Here we sat around and chewed the fat.

Monday, October 11, 2004 — Canadian Thanksgiving Day

What to do - Joe / Verna and co left around 10:00 or so, and the thanksgiving dinner had already been postponed (it was for yesterday.) Well, after a bit, we decided to take Justin and go biking in the mountains. We got in and started driving. By the time it was said and done, we ended up in Banff. Again - no pictures to 'prove' that we were there. Just an eyewitness testimony.

If I had known we were going there, I wouild have driven my truck and parked it here in Olds - because we drove right through. So, on the way home, arriving back in Wetaskiwin at 11:00 pm, I wasn't looking too forward to another 1.5 hour drive back to Olds. So I spent the night (I was too tired anyhow.)

My bad. It's been a while since I put anything in here, so, anything between today and Sep 14 will be added after today.

Drove back to Olds today, arriving late - at about 10:45.

I'm currently working on figuring out the DVD menus. If you are interested, here's a 11x17" PDF at which you can take a look-see. Show me the Photos!

The light colored block (with rounded corners) represent the images / animations I need to create, while the black square boxes are the actual video / still clips that you'll see when you navigate the DVD. You may not realize how complex it is when you watch it, though, as it will be very similar - only text changing between different sections.

Also, keep in mind this is my first draft at this - with the software I have, this seems like it's going to be very complicated (as my software is rather simplistic.) I'll just have to give it a go. The only difference between the Subtitle section and the Main section is one little thing - the link to the Subtitle Movie enables Subtitles - so it's not a separate video clip or menus, just a 'new set' with a different link between.

Still learning the DVD Authoring process, trying to work with this software I have, learning how it thinks. It's not the most user-friendly piece out there. It's nice if you have a simple little DVD to produce, but when you get a project as involved as this one is, it makes things harder to handle. Take for instance - If I have a DVD Authoring file open, with 20 menus defined (each with either video or still image and audio files) and one file is not valid or corrupt, it just won't play. And it'll say there's a bad file, but won't tell you which one. So, basically you start over.

John was looking for some wagon wheel pictures, and I didn't have any. But I knew of a wagon, so I shot a few to see if it would fit the bill. Show me the Photos!

Andrew and I drove down to Idaho for GoodSeed's annual Bible Camp. Drew got home last night at about 4:20 a.m. - after finishing up a boiler project and driving 3 hours home. So, I let him sleep, and we left at about 10:15, arriving in Idaho at about 7:00 p.m. Couple photos from the trip: Show me the Photos!

I didn't take too many photos this conference - a few for prayer cards, and playing with a new Canon - Jim's. Show me the Photos!
